ACA & ABBL: Uniting for a competitive and efficient european financial market

In the context of the closer cooperation between ABBL and ACA agreed in 2022, the Boards of the two associations met jointly for an exclusive event and work session. Members of the Boards heard from insiders from both the European Commission as well as the European Parliament about the issues that will be topical in financial services over the years to come.

One of the key topics coming back again and again was competitiveness with other jurisiction (including the US and some emerging markets), the burden of overly cumbersome red tap and issues of a sub-optimally functiong European internal market.

These three issues chime perfectly with the influential reports by Enrico Letta on the Internal Market, Mario Draghi’s report on European competitiveness and the European Commission’s agenda for the next five years that recognises the urgency of the issues.
